Is using Limewire to download music for my iPod illegal?
There’s nothing technical about it at all. It is 100% illegal unless the musician told you specifically that you could have their music without paying for it. The RIAA has been tracking down individual users that download music illegally and fining them thousands of dollars. My friend actually got a call from a company for downloading copyrighted material. He got it huge trouble. Your friend is wrong however about having to buy songs from iTunes. That is just one of many great, legal music services.
