Is using a sliding scale based on household income fair?

0

We believe it’s really the fairest system. Sometimes our mediation clients will pay a different hourly fee and sometimes this doesn’t feel fair to the party paying the higher fee. We do this because we want to support your decision to separate and to be on your own financially and because we do not want the fees we charge to be a real barrier to using mediation. Couples who have separated are finding that they are trying to support two households on what is often the income that formerly supported just one household. For many this is extremely difficult and we want to make our fees reflect, as near as we can, the difficulties of this new reality. Because each of you is struggling to support a new household, we set our fees based on the income for each.
