Is “urban sprawl” threatening endangered species?
In California, the answer all depends on whom you listen to. A recent report from the National Wildlife Federation entitled “Paving Paradise” concludes that because of residential and commercial growth in California, the majority of the state’s endangered species face possible extinction. Bruce Smith, president of the National Association of Home Builders and a California builder, disagrees strongly. He says the report is “based on statistics, not facts, and you know you can prove anything with statistics. It is disappointing to see the National Wildlife Federation engage in disingenuous, agenda-driven science.” He may be 92 years old, but management guru Peter Drucker continues to cut to the heart of business issues. In a recent, exclusive interview with CBS.MarketWatch.com, Drucker shared some important observations, many of which are applicable to real estate companies. Executives should only hire people who are looking for opportunity. Most business growth comes from acquisitions.
