Is % unemployed a % of entire population or just 18-65 year olds?
They do have a separate % for teenagers unemployed. Never children. You can look it up in separate categories also. If you go to the US Department of Labor then Bureau of Labor Statistics, it breaks it down a little. You can also look it up by state. It says “adult men/adult women” so over 18. “About 1.9 million persons (not seasonally adjusted) were marginally attached to the labor force in December, 564,000 more than 12 months earlier. These individuals wanted and were available for work and had looked for a job sometime in the prior 12 months. They were not counted as unemployed because they had not searched for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey. ” So, if you searches for a job for a year and gave up, that meant that counted you as employed. Obviously, it’s not very accurate anyway.
