Diabetes Type II or Diabetes is genetic. It may skip one or two generations and pop up of nowhere. Part of it is the thyroid malfunctions and yes, part of it is keeping health (body weight should be the proper weight for your height an bone structure) no excessive sugars. Some people can lead a healthy lifestyle and still get Type II Diabetes. This is controllable if you listen well to your doctor and eat properly which means backing off of sugar or anything with sugar in it.
