Is rue god an oxymoron?
Only inside an atheistic belief system, not in general! 1) “true god” is a subjective notion: – true god: a god in whose existence I believe – false god: a god in whose existence I do not believe. For instance: – atheist: no true god, all gods are false gods. – polytheist: several true gods (and also several false gods!). – monotheist: one true God, usually written with a majuscule, all other gods are false gods. It is not possible to prove the existence of a god. Just sometimes his inexistence. For instance, if you believe that there is a god who makes you always win by Heads or Tails, I could eventually prove that this god does not exist. Because of this, one cannot say that “true god” “combines two normally contradictory terms”. This is not even the case for atheists – because an atheist cannot prove the inexistence of a god, so this is just a belief for him. I think you cannot base oxymorons on beliefs, just on facts.
