No, there are no federal requirements in place to regulate truck driving training prior to testing for a CDL; however, it is highly recommended you attend a truck driving school to ensure you can successfully pass the CDL test on your first try. The one exception is LCV drivers (those that operate longer combination vehicles) are required to get training in hours of service, driver wellness, whistleblower protection, and driver qualifications.
