Is trail ridge road in Rocky Mountain National Park closed for the season?
Fall has finally come to Rocky Mountain National Park. The golden leaves of the Aspen have long been blown away, scattered about the park and trampled upon by the Elk during their months long mating ritual. Even those big bulls are winding down for the season, satisfied that their efforts at propagation were not in vain. Only the Pine’s evergreen stands in defiance of the impending winter. A hush has fallen over the land, as rust, orange and red are letting down their guard and succumbing to the changing of the season. Snow has finally fallen, providing needed moisture to the thirsty land; and it is grateful as the fire danger, too is finally winding down after an active and terribly destructive season. With the snow, comes the closing of Trail Ridge Road. Although as of Friday, officials weren’t sure if they would re-open the famous highway, or keep it closed for the season.
