Is traditional French food unhealthy?
There are really two types of French food – restaurant food and home-cooked food. Restaurant food is sophisticated and often quite rich, with many dishes containing cream, butter and sugar. This food is for special occasions. On the other hand, French family food is usually lighter and certainly healthier, as it is based on grains such as bread and pasta, vegetables, small amounts of meat, fresh fruits and dairy products. French cuisine offers a wide variety with many light and many rich dishes. It is a question of choice, occasion, and moderation.
