Is tony blair and his gang responsible for the poor state of our armed forces?
It has been a long standing situation where the Armed Forces are seriously underfunded. The amount of wasted billions spent on late or failed projects is very worrying. I served in the late 60’s and early 70’s. There was never enough kit, vehicles were old or under maintained. The FV 432 was our workhorse in BAOR but Bedford trucks crossed the terrain better, were used as troop carriers and GT10 carriers when the 432’s broke down, which was frequent. There was a severe lack of spares. The only place you got what you needed on time was Op Banner, Northern Ireland. Now after decades of serious underfunding, poor barracks and pads, bad kit, low pay and generally being treated like a national disgrace, the troops need kit that works.
