Is Tithing Important Today?
By Lizzie Ducking: I have heard some People say that we don’t have to tithe because it was done away with in the Old Testament, this is not true because Jesus said in Luke 6:38 give and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. Also in 2nd Corinthians 9:6 it reads but this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. In Acts 20:35 it said, I have shown you in every way by laboring like this that you must support the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus that He said, “it is more blessed to give than to receive”. These three scriptures are in the New Testament and they refer to giving. Tithing is giving so it is still important to tithe today. Does God need our wealth? No, He does not.
