Is Tiger Woods being held to higher moral standards than most politicians?
If that person has vowed to his constituency to maintain a high level of trust and virtue, then that is a matter between the elected official and the people. If that person is in an avowed position of trust and authority (Doctor, Lawyer, Policeman, etc) the impact can also be widespread. If a regular single guy has a one night stand with a regular single gal, it is not likely that harsh judgment will be meted out. Though more tawdry, a married regular Joe cavorting with someone not his wife, rises to a higher level of sin in our culture. Still it usually considered to be primarily between Joe and his spouse. This behavior, though generally considered tawdry, is hardly rare, careers are seldom at stake. The popular, wealthy comedian that occasionally gets carried away with the staff will face his family, his fans and general public scrutiny. It is unlikely that his career will collapse.
