Because of the invasion, Tibetan culture has moved into the west, changing what wasn’t working for them and strengthening what did. In the long view (think geologic time), China will not be able to hold Tibet forever. In fact, there are parts of Tibet that even now where it is difficult for the Chinese to exercise any real control. If China suffers any serious internal disturbances, earthquakes, famines or disease, the respective hinterlands of Tibet will become much less of a priority. And the possibility for that level of disturbance is now more real than people even realize. Just watch the news. Tibet will endure. Tibetan culture will continue, in hundreds of other places around the world, and benefit from the exposure to other frames of thought.
