I am a life long Cubs fan as is my entire family. I have seen a lot of losing. I have sufferred the heartbreaks of 1984 (up 2-0 vs the Padres only to lose the next 3)…2003 (up 3-1 vs the Marlins only to lose the next 3). I was born in 1969, another historic Cubs collapse. My son was born in 2003…history repeats itself. It has been 100 years since we won a title, both of my grandfathers who were both huge Cubs fans never saw a title winning team though they both saw the Cubs make the series in 1945. I guess what I am saying is I take nothing for granted and even though I truly believe the Cubs have the best team in the NL by far…nothing is guaranteed. This is the strongest Cubs team in my lifetime. They led baseball in scoring differential, they have a great lineup, arguably the best starting pitching in baseball, a solid bullpen, a good bench, decent defense, a winning manager…really no obvious weaknesses.
