A – Yes. ACD’s or Australian Cattle Dogs are often called Heelers, Blue Heelers, Queensland Heelers or Queensland Blue Heelers. These dogs are navy/black in colour with white fleck through their coats giving them various shades of a bluey-silvery looking colour. They have tan markings on the legs, chest and head and sometimes have dark patches on the head, body and tail. (This is a “loose” description of them). Other names you may hear Australian Cattle Dogs called are Smithfield’s (Stumpy Tailed Australian Cattle Dogs which are an early mutation of the breed now established as it’s own breed), Red Heelers (Light Brown colour version of ACD’s) and Timmin’s Biters (A nickname of the early Light Brown coloured Australian Cattle Dogs that originated in the late 1800’s – these are thought to have died out although the name stuck).
