Well you can’t breed both of these fish in the same tank! Bettas (aka Siamese Fighting Fish) need quite a large set up, 2 5 gallon tanks to condition the parents, a 10 gallon spawning tank, a larger 20-40 gallon grow out tank and several dozen 1 gallon tanks for further male grow out. You can’t do the whole thing in one tank!! And it’s a very long (about 8 month) drawn out process to get the pair spawned and the fry reared. The fry are very slow growing. http://www.bettatalk.com http://www.bettysplendens.com As for Swordtails, they will eat their own fry, so you’re better off with a 30 gallon for the parents (as they’re livebearers, one male per 2-3 females) and when females are a week or so away from birth, gestation is 28-30 days, they should be moved to a separate birthing tank with lots of dense plants like java moss. When they’ve done the job they should be moved back t
