Is this a good and fast custom pc im building?
Assuming all the parts and pieces are compatible, it should be a nice system. Some things to consider: AMD’s new quad-core (Phenom) is pretty inexpensive and will allow for more multitasking. You’d want a compatible mboard for the AM+ cpu. 2GB of memory is good. Make sure the motherboard graphics chipset matches that of the Graphics Card. So, if the motherboard’s graphics chipset is Nvidea, the video card’s should be as well. For even greater speed drive-wise, you might consider Western Digital’s Raptor drives. Even though they’re 1.5GB/Sec, their RPM is 10,000. You can get multiple and stripe for better performance. If you haven’t done so already, goto: http://www.newegg.com and see what they offer. It’s easy building a system there since they always recommend compatible components. Good luck!
Had either of the first 2 posters known about Mobo’s they would have known that with the latest BIOS for this board it will support the quad core processor’s without slowing the HT to 1.0 You should be good for now and for future upgrades along the way if you so choose. You will enjoy your new system and best of luck with our build! UPDATE: You can run any video card you like, the Nvidia chipset just gives you the option to run in SLI mode if you have 2 Nvidia cards. Nvidia card will run on any chipset you choose. There is however some issues with Nvidia cards on a ATI chipset boards though. Imagine that!
