Is there (website etc.) any way to find out which banks clear deposited checks quickly?

I work as a bank teller, and I can’t imagine any reputable bank clearing a check any faster than one business day. Many banks will make the funds from a deposited check available for you to spend on the next business day with some exceptions. The most common reason for a hold on a deposit is that the check is written for a large amount that could not be covered by matching funds in your account. Other reasons: depositing a credit card “convenience” check because there’s no way for the bank to verify that you have enough available credit to cover the check. Depositing a check that may be suspicious in some way or is from a known disreputable source. Legally, the bank doesn’t even have to give you a reason for the hold. It could just be on a hunch. But, as I said, most reputable banks are going to be honest with their hold policies.
