Is there vegetarian food at the Jakarta centre?
A. Volunteers are served three meals a day along with our children at the centre. This consists of plain white rice with a variety of both vegetarian and meat side dishes. We do not cater specifically to certain diets (except at our Medan centre where food is brought via a catering service). I am a vegetarian and had no troubles at any of IHF’s Indonesian centres while I volunteered there. If you wish you can buy your own food, but we only ask you do not bring treats back to the centre that you do not intend to share with the children, since this is not fair to them.
