Is there tips on writing a story?
For a start, you should ask ‘ARE (not Is..) there any tips that anyone could give me as I attempt to write a story about past lovers and the feelings I have experienced as the result? I would encourage anyone to write about their feelings; either in the first person or as a fictional tale. You will not, however, really get your feelings across if you have no grasp of spelling & punctuation. People think that this is irrelevant these days – how wrong they are! Punctuation, grammar & correct spellings are the colour in the picture you are trying to paint with your words. Get it all right & your message will be conveyed – you may even get your works published! I respectfully suggest that you try to learn how to properly express yourself in print – Read Martine Cole as an example of poorly written English …
In any story you need a good plot, tension between the characters (I see where this one is going already), you need to built the excitement and suspense up to the climax (the top of the story, it should work like a hill, climb slowly up to the climax, the climax is the top and go down, some after that, but not back too the bottom. You need to explain everything really good, not leave parts out, put everything in order (you can go back, like a character remembers something that happened in the past just don’t give anything away. Have a good ending to, maybe a surprise or sad but it needs to fit in with the rest of the story. Hope this helps.
Write down your names that you will include in the story. Then make point form notes under each name about the good and the bad. Organize them chronologically, earliest at the beginning of the story. State at the beginning what the intent of the story is. The middle of the story gives details on the people and events. The end of the story should concentrate on how the statements in the introduction were realized. In short; tell us what you’re going to do, do it, then tell us what you’ve done and any conclusions you’ve made. Try to include the good – I’m sure the whole idea of the story is for you to come to terms with the past, and move forward, right? Otherwise, it’ll just make you feel like **** all over again.
