The two main design challenges which are available to any organization include, a mechanistic organizational structure or an organic organizational structure. Both are opposite to each other. The organic organizational structure promotes flexibility, so people initiate change and can adapt quickly to the changing condition. It gives the concept of decentralized decision making in the company. This means that the authority is distributed throughout the hierarchy and the organization dictates the people to make decisions. In the organic organizational structure, the roles are loosely defined. There is high interaction among the employees and team work is preferred. Moreover, informal norms are developed and there are no strict and standardized rules. Sony Corporation, is an example of organic organizational structure.
