Is there such a thing as a false positive pregnancy test?
Blood pregnancy tests are 99% accurate and home pregnancy tests are 97% accurate, but this depends on how they are used. Reasons for a false positive can be: Detergent residue in the collection cup, faulty test kit, blood in urine (for example if you are getting your period), kidney infection or damage, and some medications. If your pregnancy test was positive, it’s a good idea to visit your GP who will be able to order blood tests and do a physical examination that will confirm or deny the home test, and it will ensure that you’re in top health for the pregnancy if it is positive.
