Is there still a War on poverty?

There is not much interest in it and it is a fallacy that there ever was a war on poverty.Corporations and the rich with all the money should be on the front lines helping the poor.Old warehouses could be converted into housing,Salvation Army thrift stores would be donating furniture, the city providing free water, sewer, and electricity. Now the poor would have a decent place to live and can now have dignity and find work.It is very strange that such a rich country would allow people to be on the streets.
