Is there something seriously wrong with my parakeet?
Hi, I also have a parkeet, so maybe I can help. Your parakeet might be really bored. if you dont talk to him/her much, then it will get bored, and kind of “go on strike” and stop eating, chirping, pluck feathers, and looks terrible. Your parakeet might also be sick. Gently take your parakeet, and lift up the tail. If there are white worm things in the bottom, your parakeet is sick, and needs to be taken to a bird vet. I dont know what else to do besides call a bird vet. Regular vets dont usually treat birds, so find a special vet in your area.
I have a parakeet although he is a male. Anyway, do you spend a lot of time with her? Because if not, parakeets will get depressed, not eat, not chirp as much and other symptoms. That happened with my parakeet and then I took him to the vet and that’s what he suggested and my parakeet got better. Umm….try different food…or buy her a new toy or two. My vet said that parakeets are very sociable animals. She may just be sick and need to go the vet. Maybe buy her another parakeet as a mate or just a friend. Introduce them slowly if you purchase another parakeet. Hope this helps! So try some of this stuff and if it doesn’t work, take her to the vet. She may just be depressed.
