Is There Something Fishy About the Marlins? Tuesday April 1, 2008#spacer{clear:left}#abc #sidebar{margin-top:1.5em}zSB(3,3) Of all the wagers on tap today, the one that looks the most obvious would have to be the Mets and Pedro Martinez over the Florida Marlins. The oddsmakers obviously thought so, as well, making New York a hefty -210 favorite. But surprisingly, the line has come all the way down to -187, which is a good-sized drop, especially for this type of situation. One of the things we must do as bettors, is to ask ourselves why the line has moved. In this case, it’s highly unlikely that it is the public backing the Marlins, but instead it’s the guys with the big bankrolls. It will be interesting to see what happens, as it’s quite possible the Marlins get hammered, but if they do, they’ll take some of my cash down the drain with them.
