Is there some way to play an m4v file in Media Shout 3.5?

I need to find a way to play an m4v file – obviously it plays in quicktime, but not full screen and not w/out menus, etc. which is not the best presentation. I’ve looked online for converters; can’t find any shareware or anything that I’d want to buy since this is the first time I’ve encountered this issue and don’t know whether I will again soon.
