Is there some big event going on or close to Barcelona from August 29-31 of 2009?
Not really. In August many people take their holidays and leave the city. However, the city is full of tourists and in the tourist areas everything will be open. But you are lucky, as our famous local football (soccer) team FC Barcelona plays at the stadium on 30 August. Even if you do not like soccer or sport, you must not miss a game at the biggest stadium in Europe. Barcelona loves soccer and most people support FC Barcelona. Do not ever think of attending a bullfight in Barcelona. We are about to ban it in Barcelona and rest of Catalonia and the great majority of us hate it. If there are still bullfights it is mainly because of ignorant tourists who pay the tickets and attend this butchery.
