Is there reduced funding for regional natural resource management organisations?

0

The Australian Government has made a commitment to provide the 56 regional natural resource management organisations with secure base-level funding for the first five years of Caring for our Country (2008-09 to 2012-13). These regional natural resource management organisations will collectively be provided with around $138 million in 2009-10 to be directed towards specific Caring for our Country targets within their regions. In addition to this secure base-level funding, regional natural resource management organisations will be able to bid for additional money under the Caring for our Country business plan to undertake additional activities that will help achieve the Australian Government’s desired outcomes and targets. This will provide regional organisations with potential access to a significantly larger pool of funds than was available under previous natural resource management programs.
