Is there really a tarnish free silver?
There is a newer type of silver alloy that is also classified as Sterling Silver. The most common way to make Sterling Silver anti-tarnish is to plate it with Rhodium. So in reality it is Rhodium plated Sterling Silver. Rhodium looks just like Sterling Silver and does not react the same way Silver does to Sulphur. However, it is much more expensive and does not guarantee the item will not tarnish. All jewelry gets scratched over time from normal wear-and-tear. Once it is scratched deep enough it will begin to tarnish where the scratch is.
