Yes but it’s pretty rare. Hippos spend most of their day in the water where lions don’t go however at night they come out to graze.They are far bigger than lion’s usual prey and lions tend to leave them alone but large prides will sometimes attack hippos if they are desperate and there is no more suitable prey around and lions will go for hippo calves if they can.
