Is there only one Religion or philosophical path that believes in love, compassion, acceptance for all people?
I believe that a desire to be good, plus a desire for Truth is what leads to love, compassion and acceptance for all people. There is beauty and truth in many religions, and I believe in each person. But there is also lies, and wrong in many religions and people, I think it all lies in wanting to know the difference, and wanting to be better. A religion helps, but I don’t believe it’s crucial, and certainly a religion does not equal a good person.
The Christian faith believes in love, compassion, and spreading the good news of Jesus to ALL people. If a person is walking, paying no attention to the environment around him or her, and is headed straight for an abyss—-what do I do? Love that person enough to warn him or her of the abyss or let the person walk into the abyss? Love and compassion is caring about the dangers facing other people and letting them know the truth. This is not threatening, hatred, or bigotry. I am not forcing you to believe anything I say, I am not forcing you to act upon my information; but because I believe I have an obligation to you, because I do love you, to let you know. If you choose to walk into the abyss after I have yelled a warning, the responsibility is yours. You knew the danger and chose to walk on.
I’m a Jehovah’s Witness, and basically, I believe that my religion practices love, forgiveness, acceptance, etc because we try not to judge people. I believe most of us JW’s leave the judging to God. We do try to preach his word and in order to be baptized in the organization you do have to stick to the bibles principles. At my Kingdom Hall, there is a Lesbian sister, who wants to be baptized and could do so because she does not act on her lesbian wants and desires. She was in love with a female, but she didn’t do ungodly things because she loved Jehovah more. We all love her and want her to come to meetings. So if you want to act on things, that’s up to you. We love, and accept all humans, and we want everybody to be saved. We accept everybody and anybody who’s willing to follow Gods principles. Because its unfair to think that you could accept someone into you’re own faith, if they don’t believe in the same thing you do, no? Because if you can’t “fall in line” with God’s principles,
