Is there much difference between the TI-84 plus and the TI-nspire cas calculator?
The TI-Nspire CAS is quite different from the TI-84 Plus. The regular TI-Nspire (non-CAS) comes with a snap-in keyboard that allows you to emulate a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition calculator. Essentially, it’s like two calculators in one. Unfortunately, the TI-Nspire CAS does not support this keyboard. I guess it’s TI’s trade off. A TI-Nspire CAS (Computer Algebra System) is similar to its non-CAS counterpart, except that it is able to solve algebraic equations. So, for instance, if you wanted to find the factored form of x²+5x+6, you could type that directly into the calculator and it will give you (x+2)(x+3). Most CAS calculators also allow you to calculate symbolically, and include a variety features that the TI-84 Plus doesn’t have (such as advanced calculus functions and whatnot). So it’s up to you to decide whether you want to buy a regular TI-84 Plus (which for most levels of high school/college math courses is sufficient), or to buy a TI-Nspire CAS (which can be generally used for h
