Is there more dignity in admitting defeat or never backing down?

It depends really. If it is something worth bearing your soul and fighting to the death for then yes there is more dignity in never backing down. If the matter at hand is petty or not worth a fight then there is more dignity in admiting defeat. If there are others whose reputations or lives are at stake then it would be much more dignified to back down for their sake. For soldiers who may be indignant to keep going no matter the cost then you may as well not back down. I guess my answer really is that the world is not so black and white. There are streaks of grey and then at times color streams in. There is not one correct answer but many.
