Is there going to be any other satallites on mars?
Great question, the answer is YES. It’s an exciting time in Mars exploration. We are planning to send a spacecraft every two years to Mars to continually study the geology and climate. The Mars Odyssey is the spacecraft that has just arrived at the planet and will begin mapping early next year (but keep an eye out for some early images). Next to go in 2003 will be a pair of rovers to land on the surface and explore around the rocks and soils. Then in 2005 we will send another orbiting spacecraft, followed by a few things in 2007 (including another lander and orbiters). We hope to send a spacecraft in 2011 to collect sample to bring back to Earth. So stay tuned… Mars here we come!
