Is there going to be a sequel to Trainspotting?
We’ve got a very, very strong idea for it—looking at those characters again when they hit middle age. When you first saw them they were hedonists—abusing and taking their bodies to the absolute limit of what they can tolerate. What gives our idea legs is that we’re going to wait until the [original] actors are in their 40s and middle-aged themselves, and the people who loved the film will have encountered that mark as well in their own lives. We want to do the sequel with all the same actors again, but it will depend on how they all feel about it when they will have hit middle age. They still basically look the same as they did when we made the film!
