Is there funding available to cover travel expenses? Will PDE be covering hotel room costs?
USDA did not provide funding to cover training. Sponsors must cover their expenses. This is an allowable Food Service Account expense. PDE will be providing breakfast both days of each session, and lunch on the first day, as well as refreshment breaks. However, they are not able to cover hotel costs. Information about hotel room availability and special rates for these training sessions is accessible through the “Changes in Child Nutrition Program Law and Regulations Training Sessions” portion of the Project PA website: http://nutrition.psu.edu/projectpa. The guest room rate for this training session at the Ramada is $68/night plus tax. To keep costs to a minimum, you might want to try connecting with others in your area who may be attending the training sessions and consider traveling together and/or perhaps sharing a hotel room.
