IS THERE FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR GREEN BUILDING?
Some state and local governments offer financial support such as grants, reduced permitting or impact fees, or direct technical assistance. Energy, water and other utilities may offer incentives for efficiency measures or technical assistance, as well as a reduced rate for buildings which meet efficiency guidelines. Some foundations consider green building plans in evaluating capital campaign requests.However, even if there is no direct financial support available, it is still economically advantageous to build green. Remember to consider the long term economic benefits of green building such as reduced energy and water bills, lower operation and maintenance costs, and improved workforce productivity.
