Is there explosion inhibition in the B+Gel technology?

0

B+Gel does not inhibit the detonation of the detonating cord itself. When shooting a line of holes in dimension stone quarries, there is a very narrow window between where the high peak pressure and velocity of the exploding detonating cord drives cracks radially in all directions ( like spokes of a wheel) and the point where the pressure fails to generate a crack even at its weakest point (the next hole in the line). B+Gel works by controling the maximum peak pressure and the time it takes to reach peak pressure to fit inside this window. Also, because of the compressibility of B+Gel, the pressurizing of the hole is dramatically slowed. In a hole 2 meters deep, the det-cord takes about 3 micro seconds to detonate. When B+Gel is added to the hole, maximum pressure is not reached until about 100 micro seconds. Thus allowing adjacent holes to help create the split along the line of closely spaced holes.
