Is there different varieties of West Highland Terriers?
There are not supposed to be different types of westies. But I am a dog groomer and i see two very different types. One has short legs, very cottony hair, and stocky. The other has wirey hair, long legs, usually much thinner. I am sure yours is a pure bred. Pure bred or not dogs can still fall out of the breed standard. I have a very out of standard Sheltie. They are supposed to be 16 inches max, and he is almost 20 inches. He came from a show breeder, and both parents are champions. He is what they call a “throwback” he looks JUST like the shelties from 100+ years ago.
