Having grown up there, I’ll try to offer some suggestions: First, since the weather is almost always beach-friendly, try to make it there a few times. Spanish River Beach is quiet and well-kept, but parking is $10/day. Palmetto Park Pavilion/Beach has free parking available along Palmetto Park Rd and is also a fairly decent beach. Both of these are quiet, relatively undeveloped beaches. If you want a developed beach with a surf shop, more parking, hotels and what not nearby, try Hillsboro Beach a few miles up the road. Inside Boca, you can check out Mizner Park – http://www.miznerpark.com/html/index.asp – a shopping and dining area. If you click on “events” on their website you will see that they have regular concerts in the ampitheater there.
