Is there anything simpler than a HSG test to check infertility in women?
I had an HSG about two months ago and I was scared too. It had less pain than a pap smear. I think it is just too important to not have done – there isn’t another test to check this. On another note, statistically, the cycle when an HSG is performed, your chances of a successful pregnancy go up. Unfortunately for me, we found the fertility drugs worked too well and I had 5 eggs, which was too much for me to risk. I’ll also point out that my parents tried for two years for me back in the early 80s with no success. My mom was 32 at the time and she had an HSG performed. Turns out, she had a little, tiny amount of blockage in her tube that the dye was actually able to ‘push’ out of the way. I was conceived that month! So, not only can this test help you rule something out, it can also increase your fertility. Did you know that even a simple cold can build scare tissue in your tubes? A virus/bacterial infection can go to just about anywhere in the body and settle in the tubes. Please recon
