Is there anyone who thinks “Indian giver” is an acceptable phrase?

As soon as I learned what “Indian giver” meant I added it to my “don’t say” list in my ongoing decision to not use bigoted slurs. I do this because 1) I do not like them, 2) I am mannerly in that I chose to not use bigoted slurs (my vocabulary is such that I do not need to when i wish to insult even if I wanted to use the slur), 3) I have a thing about language and like to know word origins. I am not going to answer from the viewpoint of the other answers. I am going to answer from the viewpoint of language itself… what goes into a word. What makes a word a slur is the intent and the commonality of the word when applied negatively to specific group of people or defined by a group of people in a negative connotation. What I am going to go into is why the phrase is a slur and make some comparisons. For the anti PC crowd, if you think I am being PC in this post, read again.
