Is there anyone happy to hear that Big Brother on channel four is coming to an end?
Makers of the programme always say things like it makes us think deeply about our behaviour and our relationships etc. Well it might surprise them that some of us manage to do that without watching TV. We find real life much more interesting. But defenders of Big Brother seem to think that observation of others and self-analysis are only worthwhile when these things are validated by television. If Big Brother has taught its fans to look inwards it might have a shred of purpose. But I hope they’re now asking themselves why they need to watch a bunch of narcissists in a TV studio to enhance their understanding of humanity. Don’t forget that in the Big Brother house everything is said and done with one eye on the camera. Reality TV is a contradiction in terms. I’m interested in relationships between people, not people and television cameras. SO YES I am happy that it’s coming to an end! And Eastenders is the most miserable doom and gloom soap opera ever made. It’s about time that was canc
