Is there any weightage to the academic achievements in the admission process or is it only on the basis of the entrance exam ?

Most of the institutes admit students on the basis of the entrance tests only. However, some institutes like Panjab University give equal weightage to the percentage in the qualifying examination and prepare a final merit list, on the basis of performance in the entrance test and the qualifying exam. Some institutes, like ILS, Pune admit students only on the basis of the marks scored in the qualifying exam and do not conduct any entrance test.
