CO2 is measured on the EU combined cycle fuel consumption test, and manufacturers have been required to publish it since 1997, although it was only added to UK registration documents in 2001. It can be calculated reasonably accurately from the published fuel consumption figures, if the fuel type is known. If your car was manufactured before the current test cycle was introduced, it may not have been tested on the same cycle, so there may be no way of arriving at a figure that can be compared to those of new cars.
