Is there any way of getting rid of Spanish bluebells?
They are pleasant enough for a week or two, but it is tedious getting rid of the stems and leaves once they have died. In the garden, their land-grabbing tendencies are contained, but it is true that they are thuggishly persistent, even resisting the hammer blow of weedkiller. The trick is to deny them their two weeks of glory. By digging them up when they are in leaf, you will find more of the bulbs and underground stems. It will take a few years. Dispose of them carefully, leaving them to dry out and die for several weeks before composting. It is escapees from gardens that have caused the problems.
