is there any visible scarring where the old grafts were removed?
The healing is usually excellent in almost all cases at our clinic. The sutures used on our repair patients also seem to help expedite the healing process. Some patients can see a slight change in pigment (hypo-pigmentation) on the locations where large grafts are removed. Scarring is not very visible and is very minimal in our repair cases. You can see from the attached photo that patients quickly recover after this procedure. The sutures usually come out after 4 or 5 days and there may be some pinkness on the area for a certain amount of time. Healing takes place from the minute the procedure is over until several months post-op. The size of the incisions is very small and allows for the scalp to have the best chance to heal. These shallow incisions made by Dr. Cole are created by more than one device to allow less trauma to the scalp and yield the best aesthetic results.
