is there any u.s. coin or currency featuring pocahontas?
The only Native American woman to appear on U.S. Currency is Sacagawea, who served as a guide to Lewis and Clark in their historic expedition to the Pacific Ocean in the opening years of the 19th Century. Her likeness appears on $1 coins first minted in 2000. Beginning in 2009, the U.S. Mint will be producing a series of $1 coins bearing the likenesses of other Native Americans. According to their website, http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/nativeamerican/index.cfm?action=evalProc the evaluation process for who will be featured on the coins is not yet complete. As such, Pocohontas may or may not appear on a future U.S. coin. Sources: Cited.
