Is there any truth in the claim that extract from jellyfish prevents Alzheimers?
The key is apoaequorin, a protein produced by some jellyfish to help them glow as a defense against predators. A study presented at a recent Alzheimer’s conference in Hawaii found a daily pill of apoaequorin improved by 14 percent brain function test scores among patients with early symptoms such as memory problems (Reporter, 2010). However, there is continued debate among medical professionals and scientists primarily because there’s no evidence that it does any good.
