Is there any story or concept behind the CD title The Vitality Theory?
It’s not a concept album; I think those are too enclosing for a band to do when they are first trying to make a name. If the first time someone hears your record is a concept album, then you’re most likely expected to make a concept album for a while. I’m not a film director, I tell stories in 3-5 minute batches, not 51 minute ones. However, while TVT isn’t a concept album, it does orbit around a theme; a theory of vitality. A Theory is a proposed explanation and Vitality is the power to live and grow with a purposeful existence. So in short, the album is about explaining how to live and grow, through music. It’s kind of a basic concept, but I find that basic concepts allow for the most diverse of renditions. How does the music on The Vitality Theory compare to what is heard on the Constant North? My immediate basic response is that it’s more organic. The composition, the production, the techniques. But then when I think about it, whenever a band says they went more organic, I just thi
